Rules

Each event at Charity Challenge has a set of rules that every team must follow. Read further to get up to speed on the rules.

Basketball Shootout

Six-person teams. (3 women, 3 men)

Only one ball can be used by a team.

Each person has 45 seconds to shoot at various spots on the court, with 1, 2, 3 and 5 point circles designated. One foot must be in the circle as the ball is released to count at the point level. Distances are as follows: 5pt- 20ft [top of the key], 3pt- 15ft [foul line], 2pt- 10ft, and 1pt- 5ft.

At the beginning of the 45 seconds, starting at the 5pt circle, each shooter will have to shoot from each spot at least once. A player making a basket for all the required spots during his/her 45 seconds will receive a 10-point bonus.

Two lay ups will be allowed per person for one point each.

One successful slam-dunk per person will be awarded 10 points.

Five other teammates not shooting may rebound for the shooter.

Each team will have the option to participate in this event twice.

The teams with the top 12 scores will move to the finals. Points in finals determine 1st-12th place. All other teams will receive 13th place.

Kayak Relay Race

Six-person team. (3 women, 3 men)

Two in Kayak at one time, doing one lap. (1 men, 1 female)

Three laps total, clockwise around the marker in lake.

Teammates in the event may help push kayak and in team exchange.

Teams purposely ramming or tipping over other teams will be disqualified. The disrupted teams will have the option to race again.

Each team will have the option of racing twice.

The top 12 timed teams will advance to finals, which will determine 1st-12th place.

All other teams will receive 13th place.

Obstacle Course

Six person team. (3 women, 3 men)

Relay race with each person running same lap back and forth.

Each participant must complete each obstacle.

Failure to complete any obstacle successfully will lead to a disqualification.

Each team will have the option to run the obstacle course twice.

Obstacles include: hurdle, tires, rope swing, balance beam and army crawl.

The top 12 timed teams will advance to the finals, which will determine 1st-12th place. All other teams will receive 13th place.

Tubing Relay Race

Six person teams. (3 women, 3 men)

One person per tube will do 1 leg of the relay, there are 6 legs total for the teams (approximately 25 yards).

Tubers moving into another lane and disrupting another tuber will be disqualified. Tuber disrupted will have the option of racing again.

Each team will have the option of racing twice.

The top 12 timed teams will advance to the finals, which will determine 1st-12th place. All other teams will receive 13th place.

Tug of War

Six person teams. (At least 2 women, 4 men)

Single elimination tournament, 90 second time limit per tug.

Tug will start 30 second after the end of the instructions per LONG WHISTLE

Start and stop on the LONG WHISTLE.

Winner is determined by either pulling the other team’s marker over the center mark or leading after the 90 second time limit. (Center mark to either team’s marker is approximately one yard).

The hand of the first person in the tug line-up may not go beyond the marker on that team’s side of the rope. The first infraction, the team member will be warned. The second infraction will lead to disqualification.

The anchor on the tug line CANNOT wrap the end of the rope around their bodies in any way. DISQUALIFICATION will happen on first infraction.

It is suggested that participants use gloves or other articles to cover hands and arms. NO SPIKES ON SHOES.

Posted schedule will be strictly enforced. After 2 minutes from the first call, teams not ready to tug can be DISQUALIFIED.

Volleyball Tournament

Eight courts will be utilized.

Six person teams. (3 women, 3 men; co-ed rules apply: a woman must touch the ball each time the ball goes over the net, except when the ball goes over on the first hit).

Single elimination tournament.

Eleven point games. Either side on every serve may score points. Once either team reaches 10 points, both teams can then only score on serve. You must win by TWO points.

Teams will switch sides every 5 points.

No backcourt spiking. Backcourt player’s feet must be touching ground if in spiking motion.

Substitutions can be made only at the server position.

Flagrant carries and net violations will not be allowed! No jungle ball!

Posted schedule will be strictly enforced. After 5 minutes from the first call, team not ready to play will be disqualified.
